STAIRCASE
Year: 2025
Material: Acrylic, adhesive tape, magazine, newspaper, and plaster on cardboard
Dimension: 20 (H) × 20 (W) × 20 (D) in.
This work is a reinterpretation of a staircase as a symbolic stage that captures the youth's social narratives. Each step has collages of photographs of the pressures faced by Korean teenagers: the academic pressures, mental health, harsh beauty standards, social isolation, and digital addictions. Gwon Osang's sculptural photography inspired me, and I wanted to create a three-dimensional collage. The sides are left empty so that I can project videos related to these themes, creating a synergy between still and moving images that amplifies the diverse voices.
